دکتر علی نیری پس از دریافت دکترای خود در فیزیک نظری در سال 1999 ، به عنوان همکار فوق دکترا در گروه فیزیک در دانشگاه MIT منصوب شد
به مدت 2 سال و به عنوان یک محقق پژوهشی در مرکز فیزیک نظری MIT ، و برای یک سال اضافی از آن زمان ، او عضو پژوهش در آزمایشگاه های علوم هسته ای MIT بوده است.
وی همچنین از سال 2002 تا 2004 دانشمند پژوهشی و استادیار مدعو در انستیتوی نظریه های بنیادی دانشگاه فلوریدا بود. او سپس به هاروارد به گروه فیزیک در کمبریج پیوست .
در حال حاضر دکتر نیری استادیار و عضو هیئت علمی در موسسه مطالعات کوانتومی چاپمن می باشد .
دکتر نیری عضو اصلی موسسه فیزیک نظری کاولی در دانشگاه کالیفرنیا ، سانتا باربارا و گروه فیزیک و نجوم در
دانشگاه کالیفرنیا بین سال های 2007 تا 2010 بوده است.
زمینه های تحقیقاتی دکتر نیری شامل کیهان شناسی رشته ای و شاخه ای ، اوایل جهان و تورم ، نسبیت عام ، فیزیک آماری نظریه نیمه کلاسیک جاذبه کوانتوم و کیهان شناسی های جایگزین است. وی مقالات مختلفی را در مجلات علمی مختلف در ایالات متحده ، انگلیس ، اروپا ، هلند و روسیه منتشر کرده است. دکتر نیری همچنین در میان 100 دانشمند برتر ایرانی-آمریکایی قرار دارد و برای مارکیز انتخاب شده است.
وی از جمله معدود فیزیکدانی است که توسط انجمن ریاضیات آمریکا انتخاب شده است تا به عنوان بازرس مقالات ریاضی عمل کند.
دکتر نیری همچنین در زمینه کاربرد فیزیک و نظریه هرج و مرج در علوم اجتماعی و جامعه شناسی کار کرده و سخنرانی های متعددی راجع به رواج علم و ارتباط متقابل جامعه شناسی و فیزیک داشته است.
وی از سال 2010 تا 2012 بنیانگذار و رئیس هیئت مدیره اندیشکده ایرانی مستقر در لس آنجلس بود. دکتر نیری بنیانگذار و عضو هیئت مدیره گروه مطالعات ایران شناسی (ISG) در MIT بود. دکتر نیری به همراه عباس میلانی از سال 2004 تا 2006 ریاست “ایران: چشم اندازهای آینده” را در دانشگاه استنفورد بر عهده داشته اند.

After receiving his PhD in Theoretical Physics in 1999, Dr.
Ali Nayeri
, was appointed as a Postdoctoral Associate at the Department of Physics at
MIT
for 2 years and as a Research Fellow at
MIT’s Center for Theoretical Physics
for an additional year. Since then, he has been a Research Affiliate at
MIT’s Laboratories of Nuclear Sciences
. He was also a Research Scientist and Visiting Assistant Professor at the Institute for Fundamental Theory at University of Florida from 2002-2004. He then joined the
Harvard
Physics Department in Cambridge. Currently Dr. Nayeri is an assistant professor and member of the
Chapman’s Institute of Quantum Studies
. Dr. Nayeri was the general member of the prestigious
Kavli Institute for Theoretical Physics
in University of California, Santa Barbara and the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the
University of California
, Irvine between 2007 to 2010.
Dr. Nayeri’s fields of research include, string and brane cosmology, early universe and inflation, general relativity, statistical physics of semi-classical theory of quantum gravity, and alternative cosmologies. He has published nu merous papers in various scientific journals in the US, UK, Europe, Netherlands and Russia. Dr. Nayeri is also among the top 100 Iranian-American Scientists and he has been chosen for Marquis
Who’s Who in America
, 2009-2011. He is amongst the few physicists who have been chosen by the American Mathematical Society to act as the reviewer of the mathematical papers.
Dr. Nayeri has also been working on the application of physics and chaos theory on social sciences and sociology, and has given numerous talks on popularizing science and interrelation of sociology and physics.
He was the cofounder and president of the board of directors of the AndishgAh an Iranian Think Tank based in LA from 2010 to 2012. Dr Nayeri was the cofounder and member of the Board of Directors of the Iranian Studies Group (ISG) at MIT. Dr. Nayeri, along with Abbas Milani, has chaired the “Iran: Future Prospects” at Stanford University from 2004 to 2006.
